Manager of Trading Control
April 2017
Charlotte Massie didn’t know what to expect when her career at ACES began 12 years ago in the accounting department. She brought a strong work ethic, a friendly face, and the desire to learn something new every day, and it didn’t take long for her to fit in at ACES.
“Once I got here, I realized it was a great company to work for,” Charlotte said. “I enjoy the people I work with, and the overall atmosphere and culture at ACES made me want to stay.”
ACES recognized Charlotte’s talent, and she was provided opportunities
for advancement. In 2007, she moved from the Accounting department to Settlements, where she worked for the next nine years.
A highlight for Charlotte at ACES was participating in a committee that organizes community involvement and recreational team-building activities for employees. She also participates in ACES’ Mentoring Program. Through mentoring, Charlotte is able to help new employees make a smooth transition into ACES’ operations and culture. “I believe it’s important for new employees to develop an understanding of the company as a whole, and to understand how their role fits within the overall structure,” she explained. “To this end, I work as a mentor to new employees. I explain the history of ACES and answer any questions they have about our company and industry. I help them assimilate into our corporate culture.”
After working in Settlements, Charlotte moved to Trading Control, where she has been able to utilize her settlements and accounting experience. Trading Control is a vital function at ACES. Charlotte and other members of the Trading Control team enter trades into ACES’ risk system, answer questions on trading authority policies, perform fair-market analysis, and much more.
“My typical day is hectic, but I love it,” Charlotte said. “I work with traders to ensure data is entered in the risk system timely and accurately. One of the best things about ACES is our strong trading control environment. We are constantly
working with various departments to ensure the accuracy of trade data.”
Charlotte is not only an impressive person in her career — but in all aspects of life. She grew up in Gary, Indiana, where she worked voraciously in high school so she could attend Ball State University. After graduating college, Charlotte moved to Chicago to work in property management before making the move to Indianapolis. Charlotte married her college sweetheart, John Massie. They have two sons, John II and Josiah, who are five and eight years old. Charlotte is the PTA president of her children’s school, and enjoys working with the other parents to ensure their children’s school experience is the best it can be. The Massie family also takes part in various volunteer activities throughout the community because they believe in giving back.
Charlotte has become a key member of the ACES team. Her energy, compassion, and dedication to the job is contagious. “I believe in learning something new every day, and working in trading control provides me with endless possibilities!”
