In 2004, Crystal Pippens was working as a bankruptcy legal representative and faced with a choice of having to relocate to Missouri or finding a new job. A life-long Indianapolis native, Crystal decided against moving and utilized a temp agency to help her find a new opportunity in Indianapolis. Shortly afterward, she began as a temp in ACES’ Trading Control department, was quickly offered a full-time position, and is currently Senior Trading Control Analyst. In her role, Crystal helps ACES maintain its sound and disciplined control environment associated with the transactions ACES’ executes on behalf of its Members and Customers.
Crystal also recently pursued a job-sharing opportunity assisting ACES’ Director of Corporate Security with performing vulnerability assessments for ACES’ Members. As part of her job-share responsibilities, Crystal has traveled to several of ACES’ Member’s facilities to help them identify security gaps and recommend solutions to improve their overall physical security posture. “I’m so appreciative of ACES’ job share opportunities. I love the work that I do, but am also interested in exploring other aspects of our business,” says Crystal. “I really enjoy new tasks and responsibilities. It’s also very rewarding to see our recommendations implemented and know that I played a role in helping ensure the safety of our Members’ staff and security of their facilities,” she adds.
Crystal’s desire to take on new challenges extend outside the office, as she and her daughter spend a significant portion of their free time volunteering and giving back to their community. “I really enjoy participating in charity events and supporting my community. My daughter loves animals, so we spend a lot of time volunteering at the humane society. We also try to participate in a variety of charity events and volunteer to help those in need through a variety of organizations.” Crystal also serves as head worship leader and youth coordinator at her church. Crystal is also a foster parent and has provided care for five children over the past few years. “Being a foster parent is amazing and so rewarding! I’d encourage anyone who is considering becoming a foster parent to pursue it” says Crystal. “I’m not sure
anyone realizes how much of a need there is for more foster parents. I was contacted with fostering opportunities the same day that I became licensed,” she adds.
While Crystal certainly leads a busy life, she does find time for hobbies and relaxation. “In my spare time, I love to write. I have some material for a book that I hope to have published in the next few years,” says Crystal. When asked what advice she has for new ACES employees, Crystal emphasizes getting involved with anything that interests you. “We all need to develop a solid foundation and be experts in our specific roles, but ACES does provide opportunities to explore new things, have a voice, and be involved. If you’re interested, speak up,” she says. “ACES is so much more than a place to work. For me, ACES is family. We learn and grow from one another and show up for each other when it matters most,” she adds.
Crystal’s constant pursuit of excellence and desire to continue learning and growing are just a few of the traits that make her a great fit for ACES.
